Tributes have been paid to a retired police dog who sadly passed away this weekend.
RPD 1704 Scotty, known as Scotty T, died suddenly at the age of nine.
The police dog worked in the Cheshire and North Wales area for four years before retiring in 2021. He was then rehomed and was enjoying retirement and was described as having a “mischievous nature” shortly before his illness.
Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs unit made the announcement of his passing on social media on Sunday, February 19.

In a tribute to him, they said: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the very sudden passing of RPD 1704 Scotty who fell seriously ill yesterday at the age of 9.
“Scotty T as he was affectionately known, served the Alliance from 2017 working alongside his handler Pc Edwards, before retiring in 2021.
“Since then he re homed to a lovely family who gave him a wonderful retirement enjoying a slower pace of life albeit with a very inquisitive, clever and mischievous nature, especially when finding his fav toy….. the children’s teddies!!
“We know you crossed the rainbow bridge a happy boy and you got your one last journey in the police car. You will be missed by many, run free Scotty T.”
