THE man in line to be the next Mayor of Wrexham has been suspended from the council for three months.
Brymbo Councillor Paul Rogers, a member of the ruling Independent / Conservative coalition group, has received the suspension after an investigation by the council’s standards committee, for his involvement in a dispute between the driver of a vehicle and a bus driver outside Ysgol Tanyfron.
Cllr Rogers is the current Deputy Mayor of Wrexham and is due to succeed current Mayor Cllr Brian Cameron in mid-May.
In a statement addressing his suspension, Cllr Rogers said: "Two years ago there was a disagreement between a driver of a bus and a car outside Ysgol Tanyfron. The incident lasted around 40 minutes.
"At the time I acted in good faith in the interests of children, parents and passengers to try and resolve the situation.
"This resulted in a complaint which has been considered by the Council's Standards Committee.
"I respect the Committee's decision and accept the short suspension I have been given."
"Once this has concluded I will continue to serve my constituents as Councillor for Brymbo and Tanyfron".
