THE LEAD singer of a Sex Pistols tribute act is embarking on a 1,000-mile cycle in aid of a Wrexham cat rescue.
Nathan Maverick, from Wrexham, is cycling from Milan to Wrexham in April to raise funds for the Candy Tibby Trust - a small rescue which rehabilitates and rehomes feral, stray and unwanted cats into loving homes.
By night, the 40-year-old is the frontman of the Sex Pistols Expose - an acclaimed tribute to the legendary London punk rockers.
But to complete the challenge, Nathan is having to put band duties on hold.
"I've taken some time off from my band to make this happen and if people can make a small donation of even a pound it will go a long way for these animals," he said.
A JustGiving page has been set up, and Nathan is looking to raise £5,000. To donate to it, please visit https://bit.ly/3KcMGpD.
In the summer, the Candy Tibby Trust launched an urgent appeal for donations amid spiralling vet bills and number of rescues.
Nathan said: "I'm doing all this for a few reasons. Mainly for a local hard working cat charity with very few volunteers using their free time and in some cases money to give cats a happy home and secure them a future.
"I love cats and dogs, and two years ago I lost both my dogs within a couple of months of each other - they were my best mates."

Nathan then lost his father, his home and his job as a full-time musician - and said his mental health began to spiral.
"I adopted a black cat called Lemmy then temporarily moved in with my mother but when I found a new home I had to leave him with her," he said.
"Now in another chapter in my life, my partner has a cat and we have since adopted another to make two in the house.
"My love for them grew and seeing how Candy and Tibby Trust struggle to manage with this heavy workload I thought I can help do something. I love cycling and cats, why not combine them and plan an event."
Nathan wants to spread awareness to help the charity and the cats they rescue.
