Wrexham police received reports of a burglary at the property of an elderly woman in Rhostyllen.
Inspector Luke Hughes has described the incident as "a sickening offence" as they received reports of a burglary at a property in Rhostyllen on Tuesday afternoon, February 14.
Inspector Hughes said: "The victim was an elderly lady who had left home just before midday and returned at around 16:10hrs to find entry had been gained to her home.
"Items (thankfully not of significant value) had been taken."

He added: "Offences such as this remain rare, but sadly not uncommon in recent weeks.
"If you recall, we had two reported in the middle of January in the Offa ward of Wrexham. I understand a bungalow undergoing renovation was also targeted in Rhostyllen on the 9th February with items stolen, including a gate, solar panels and fixtures.
"If you happened to see anything on Burkitt Street at around 5pm on the 9th Feb, I would be very grateful for information. Please quote 23000119023."
The Wrexham police inspector also went on to describe a "spike" in retail crime throughout this week.
Inspector Hughes added: "Frustratingly, the same names as usual and from people who are who are heavily convicted… I concede they probably need help / support to address their habits, but sadly, that’s not entirely my concern. Locally, my focus is to catch and convict as soon as I can to reduce future demand and/or harm."
"[...]People have an absolute right to feel safe in Wrexham city centre and businesses should be able to invest locally without fear of victimisation. Also, the shops generally are owned / managed and staffed by local residents. Unless we get our response right, we genuinely run the risk of undermining public confidence and won’t allow that to happen."
