WREXHAM AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds has reportedly teamed up with an investment group to bid for National Hockey League (NHL) side Ottawa Senators.
In November 2022, the Deadpool star appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where, alongside talking about Wrexham, he discussed the possibility of buying the Canadian hockey side.
The Ottawa Senators are one of seven Canadian teams in the NHL and Ottawa is a place Ryan has fond memories of.
When asked if the takeover rumours were true at the time, Ryan said: "Yes, that is true. I am trying."
He added: "It's very expensive, so you know I need a partner with big, deep pockets.
"It's called a consortium when you form a group together to buy an entity. It's just a fancy way of saying I need a sugar mummy or sugar daddy.

"But I love Ottawa, I grew up in Vancouver, which has my heart always, but I also grew up in Ottawa."
Now several reports are suggesting that an official bid has very recently been made by Ryan and the investment group - rumoured to involve a Toronto-based real estate company named the Remington Group.
Journalist Bruce Garrioch reported in the Ottawa Sun on Monday (February 13) that the takeover would also include a plan to build a new arena at LeBreton Flats, Ottawa.
It’s believed the bid for the Senators is being led by Remington Group president Christopher Bratty along with several partners.
However, Garrioch's report adds that Ryan would be 'the face of the Senators’ franchise' and would play a key role in the decision making for the future of the club - much like he has done at Wrexham.

Ottawa Senators are currently owned by the Melnyk family and the franchise is said to be worth around £800m.
Ryan took over at Wrexham AFC alongside friend and fellow actor Rob McElhenney in February 2021.
Since then, the club's reputation has sky-rocketed with the 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary earning it new supporters from around the world - including in Ryan's homeland of Canada.
