MOLD'S much-loved annual pancake race will not be going ahead this year.
The event returned last year following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic for its 16th edition, however, Mold Town Council has confirmed that the race will not take place this year.
A spokesperson for Mold Town Council said: "The majority of our runners/ entrants are Mold schools teams who attend each year.

"Unfortunately this year Shrove Tuesday falls during the half term and therefore the schools will not be attending, so the decision was made not to hold this year."
The event is usually free of charge and takes place on Daniel Owen Square on Shrove Tuesday. It usually sees teams of four run in a relay for the pancake races – each person wearing an apron running one length of the square, tossing and catching their pancake three times.
