A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “We are very sad to hear that two swans were found with critical injuries at an industrial yard near to the Old Quay House in Dock Road, Connah’s Quay this morning (February 9).
“Both of the swans had suffered extensive injuries and CCTV footage provided by a local business showed they appeared to have made contact with an overhead power cable during flight. One of our animal rescue officers attended the scene and sadly had to make the decision to put both the birds to sleep.
“The RSPCA advises anyone finding a sick or injured bird to follow the following guidance (at www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/diseases) because of the dangers of spreading avian flu.
"And if they call the animal charity for help we would ask them to bear with us, as our rescue teams are under a lot of pressure.”
