Sheffield United FC has confirmed it is looking into reports of disorder after claims of an object being thrown at a Wrexham fans bus emerged on social media.

Following Wrexham's 3-1 defeat at Bramall Lane on Tuesday, a Wrexham fan took to Twitter to claim their bus had been struck by a thrown object, thought to have been a bottle.

The fan stated they were relieved the vehicle's window hadn't been smashed as there were families and elderly people on the bus.

Sheffield United FC confirmed it was aware of incidents having taken place on the day of the match, and has announced it will be investigating.

A spokesman said: "Club officials are aware of incidents having taken place inside and outside the ground and will now await the referee’s report, review CCTV footage and work with South Yorkshire police to identify offenders.

"Sheffield United will not allow the conduct of a small number [to] spoil the enjoyment of the vast majority of supporters who behave in the appropriate manner when attending fixtures at Bramall Lane.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the force is not aware of the incident involving the bus, but added: "SUFC stewards intervened in a dispute in the stadium and a club review will take place to identify if any criminal offences occurred."
