A Flintshire school has launched a community food pantry to help struggling families and provide work experience for students with additional needs.
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd is a specialist school situated in Flint that provides education for pupils aged 11-19 who have a statement of special educational needs.
The school has recently announced it will launch a new food pantry service called 'Bwyd Hyfryd' running on Tuesdays during school term.
The food pantry will run from 9.30am-11.30am starting next week, February 14.
Bwyd Hyfryd will be a 'pay what you can' pantry providing families in need with a range of groceries such as fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned foods and dried foods at an affordable price.
Tanwen Messum-Johnson, family engagement worker at the school and one of the organisers of Bwyd Hyfryd hopes the provision will help families that are struggling.

She continued: "In the current climate a lot of people are struggling, part of my role involves providing families who need it with foodbank vouchers and I have seen the demand increase over the past few months."
The food pantry will be delivered through a new trailer which the school received from Flintshire county council.
Tanwen continued: "Our aim is to ensure that no family in our community goes hungry and that every child is able to learn how to make good food choices to enable them to thrive."
Another key aim for the food pantry is to provide students at the school with hands on work experience and to allow them to gain valuable social skills including promoting independence and communication.
Students from the school will work alongside staff to collect the deliveries and serve those who access the foodbank.
Tanwen hopes the provision will grow in the future utilising the school's garden and fruit and vegetable patches as well as possibly introducing tables and chairs to offer soup and bread.
The food pantry trailer will be located in the school car park at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd Specialist School.
