NORTH WALES Police are questioning whether parents know what their children are up to amid the ongoing issues with Nitrous Oxide.

In recent weeks, there has been an increase in discarded cannisters across the region, causing concern about the use of the potentially fatal gas amongst young people.

North Wales Police said: "We are aware of ongoing issues with young people using Nitrous Oxide or “laughing gas” cannisters like these in the Mold and Buckley areas.

"We are working with partners such as trading standards, drug and alcohol support groups and schools to help address the issue, but we also need the help of parents to talk with their children about the potential dangers of using Nitrous Oxide.

"Nitrous Oxide is a colourless gas which can be extremely dangerous, even fatal, when inhaled.

"Choosing to take nitrous oxide can put you at risk of losing consciousness and/or suffocating from lack of oxygen.

"It is classed as a psychoactive drug and it is possible to become psychologically dependant on it.

"Due to the effects of Nitrous Oxide you’re much more likely to fall and injure yourself after taking it.

"Once again we ask the question: 'Parents, do you know what your children are up to?'"
