A TEAM of Wrexham Rural officers who took part in a nationwide movement for mental health wellbeing in memory of a colleague are thought to have raised the most money in the UK.
Red January, an annual month-long fundraising initiative aimed to better mental health, sees those involved getting active every day to beat the winter blues.
The team of 15 officers was set up by PCSO Alison Heron in memory of their colleague and friend, PC Ryan Donaldson, who sadly died suddenly in December.
So far, the team has raised over £1,161, which according to the app’s UK fundraising leader board, puts them top. Anyone wishing to donate can do so via https://bit.ly/3jsA3fc.

The money will be donated to ‘Sport in Mind’ – the UK’s leading mental health sports charity.
PCSO Heron said: “We’ve all been feeling so low after losing Ryan in December, so we decided to dedicate this year’s Red January to him.
“It's true what they say, being active helps keep the blues away and it’s been lovely for so many of us to come together and participate in the activities together as a tribute to him.
“I have done a few things I've never done before such as play squash and registered for my first ever park run. Some of us will continue to do so as we have enjoyed it so much."
