A MAN was left "overwhelmed" when a stranger paid for his shopping after he had forgotten his wallet.
Roy Jones was picking up groceries from Aldi in Llay on Thursday night when he realised at the till he had forgotten his wallet.
The 46-year-old, who works for Natural Resources Wales, said: "I was telling my daughter and a young man behind me offered to pay for me.
"I said 'it's ok, I'll nip home and get my wallet' - I told the member of staff and she said to put it through and leave it on the side and come back.
"I was in my car leaving when the member of staff came running out to stop me as the young man had paid for my groceries regardless. Next thing he walked out from the shop carrying my shopping."
Roy asked for his number so he could pay him back.
"He told me just to pass the favour onto someone else so I will," Roy said.
"It was probably about £15 worth of food - but it was so unexpected. I'm a single dad of two children and to have someone pay for my food - in the current cost of living crisis - really overwhelmed me.
"I just want to say a huge thank you to this young man."
The kind stranger has been identified as 25-year-old Gabe Purvor.

Roy said: "After I was told who it was, I sent him a message to thank him.
"He replied by saying 'enjoy your tinnies' - remembering four cans of beer were among the items I'd bought. It only seems a small gesture, but it was so special to me."
