A MAN was taken to hospital after jumping into a partially frozen lake in Wrexham to save a dog.
Emergency services were called to the incident at Acton Park lake on Sunday afternoon to assist a 56-year-old man with getting out of the icy water.
The man was then taken to hospital by paramedics.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) said it sent two crews from Wrexham to the incident - with the first of those helping the man out of the water.
A NWFRS spokesperson said there was a report that a dog had gone through the ice. He said: "A member of the public went to try and get the dog to rescue it. They rescued the dog which was taken to safety, and the first of our crews on scene helped the man out of the water.
"We also sent the boat unit to the incident - but their services were not required on scene."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said it was called to the incident just after 1pm. They said that the man's condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
