FLINTSHIRE residents have been urged to remain vigilant after reports of a recent phone scam.

The warning came from Flintshire Trading Standards this week.

A spokesman explained: "Residents are receiving a pre-recorded message claiming to be from Amazon.

"The phone call appears to come from a local number. The message advises the resident that their Amazon account has been paid and that £95 has been debited from their account. This is a scam.

"If you receive such a telephone call, put the phone down, do not press any numbers on your phone.

"Do not give any personal or financial details. If you do wish to check your bank account, then contact your bank using their contact details on any bank statements you may have."
