A MAN who relies completely on the "bank of mum" for his finances has been handed a fine after he was caught with drugs.

Thomas Cunningham, of Clent Road in Maghull, Sefton, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old admitted that on December 28, he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis on the A483 in Wrexham.

Rhian Jackson told the court that on the evening of the offence, police received information about a black BMW travelling in the Wrexham area.

It was located and stopped on the A483 and Cunningham was a passenger.

He and the male driver, as well as another male passenger, were detained for drugs searches - but Cunningham volunteered a clear bag of cannabis to the officers.

Alex Mackenzie, defending, told the court her client has just one adult conviction, and that in terms of finances, he doesn't have any means.

The court heard he "depends entirely" on his mother for support.

District Judge Gwyn Jones summarised: "The bank of mum is still supporting him, then."
