WREXHAM residents are being warned of counterfeit £50 notes circulating in the area.
North Wales Police are urging residents to 'be alert' as counterfeit £50 Irish notes are said to have been used in Wrexham recently.
Officers say that there have been 'several instances' of these notes being 'presented at shops' in the area.

A statement from NWP's Wrexham team read: "Recently there have been several instances in Wrexham of fake Irish, bank of Ulster, fifty-pound notes being presented at shops.
"Please be alert for counterfeit currency if you undertake any cash transactions. Offenders appear to be travelling over a wide area and have been reported in neighbouring Police Force areas also.
"Please take all reasonable precautions when £50 notes are presented for purchases, especially Irish or Scottish notes."
