A Wrexham suburb community came together today, January 15, to plant a community orchard for all to enjoy.
Rhosddu councillor Marc Jones has thanked all who came to plant a new community orchard, especially the children who will see the fruits of their labour for years to come.
Cllr Jones as well as several members of the community came to help plant a communitu orchard in Ashfield Park Wrexham at 10.30 am, Sunday, January 15.
The orchard has apples, pears, damsons, plums and cherry trees that are all Welsh heritage stock.
They include rare varieties such as the Bardsey apple and Denbigh plum, which have been cultivated by Ian Sturrock of Bangor.

"The idea was to plant trees that are manageable and will produce a crop that anyone can enjoy.
"I hope the children who were involved in the planting will enjoy the fruits of their labour long after us oldies have left the scene.
"I'm also grateful to Horticulture Wales and Incredible Edible Wrecsam who assisted in the work and provided stakes to secure the trees.
"It was a real team effort and I'll look forward to seeing how the community orchard develops."
