A PLANNING application to turn a village hall into apartments is among the latest submitted to Flintshire Council.
The proposal would see Gronant Institute, on Llanasa Road, Gronant, turned into seven apartments / town houses.
There would be four new build apartments and three terraced units, with ancillary roads and drainage works.
The institute and bowling green (now replaced by parking area) was gifted to the village by Richard Hughes, a native of Gronant who became a shipbuilder in Liverpool.
The building has now closed to the public, the applicant, PLPlanning, had proposed to develop the site with 11 dwellings formed by conversion and extension of the building, as well as three new build dwellings on the current car park. A total of 17 car parking spaces are proposed.
The Cenotaph memorial will remain.
Other notable applications recently submitted to Flintshire Council are as follows:
- Change of use of Unit 64, Deeside Industrial Estate to for, specialist community hub including fitness resource, cafe and barber shop with two chairs and sports treatment facilities.
- New headquarters for the Connah's Quay Sea Cadets with 15 No. parking and parade ground on land at Dock Road, Connah's Quay.
