PLANS for a number of new silos at Chirk's Kronospan plant look set to be given the go-ahead.
A planning application for the structures, as well as an extension to the site's existing chip preparation building, is to be discussed by Wrexham Council's planning committee on Monday.
The proposed work also includes the repositioning of three filter boxes, as well as the provision of a new filter box.
According to a report to the planning committee, Chirk Town Council has raised no objections to the scheme - but members have asked the committee to consider a caveat to make sure there is noise abatement on the silo equipment.
The report adds: "The development proposed would be situated at the western edge of the Kronospan site close to its boundary with the Shrewsbury to Chester railway line.

"The proposal would not increase the prominence of the site within the rural landscape surrounding Chirk nor would there be an adversely impact on views from or the setting of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
"Being similar in appearance to existing buildings and plant within the site, the development would also not materially alter the appearance of the Kronospan site itself."
It is stated that the development "would not have any significant impacts regarding emissions" and "would not adversely impact upon residential amenity."
The report recommends that the planning committee grants permission for the proposed works.
