Inspector Luke Hughes said police were initially “gravely concerned” about the incident near the Funfair in Waterworld car park in his daily update published on Tuesday, January 3.

He explained that inhaling Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a growing issue in young people despite the dangers being “well published”.
He also confirmed the woman has been given medical treatment.
In his update, Insp Hughes said: “On the 28th December we had a report of a collapsed female near to the Funfair that has set up on water world carpark, it was apparent that the young lady had been inhaling Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) a sad new craze that youngsters are participating in, the dangers are well published but yet it still goes on.
"Medical attention was sought for her, initially we were gravely concerned… it's certainly not a laughing matter regardless of the gas used.”
