A DEESIDE restaurant and bar is closing its doors this month - but not for good.

GT's Bar & Grill, in Wepre, Connah's Quay, has announced that it will close its doors on January 15.

It said on its Facebook page: "Ever since the pandemic hit we have struggled to maintain the level of service and custom that we were previously used to and as a result we can no longer justify the trading of GT’s Bar & Grill with ever increasing costs.

"We would like to thank our customers for many years of good times, custom and great memories, we will miss you all."

However, it will be placed under new management who will be "developing" the site.

GT's Bar & Grill's statement added: "We would also like to wish the best of luck to the new management team that will be taking over developing the site. They will be announcing their intentions for the site shortly.

"We hope that they have many years of making more memories with the good people of Connah’s Quay and beyond."

GT's Bar & Grill, which has been trading for six years under Gastro Taverns Ltd, currently employs 12 members of staff.

Steve Saxon, operations director at Gastro Taverns Ltd, told The Leader that the new management will be "keeping on as many front of house staff as possible".
