A police officer, serving with Wrexham Rural Team, was found dead below the aqueduct in Pontcysyllte, an inquest opening heard.
Ryan Stuart Donaldson, 31, of St Giles Court, Wrexham was found below the aqueduct on Sunday, December 10.
At County Hall in Ruthin on Tuesday (December 20), an inquest was opened into the death of the police officer who was born in Chester.

The inquest opening was told that two 999 calls had been made by members of the public, who had driven past and seen a person on the wrong side of the barrier.
His body was found and identified.
After a post-mortem examination consultant pathologist, Dr Mark Atkinson gave the provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, adjourned the inquest until a later date.
