AFTER what has been an incredibly tough time for schools and colleges across the region, the Leader is launching Education Awards for 2023.
Over the past few years, the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in many events having to be postponed or cancelled but we believe that now - more than ever - we continue to celebrate everything that's great in the region.
And that means highlighting the brilliant work carried out by our dedicated teachers and everyone involved in education in Wrexham and Flintshire, as well as shining a spotlight on innovation and best practice across the area.
Our schools' awards will also aim to recognise the outstanding achievements of pupils and students, including those who may have overcome the odds or battled adversity over the last 12 months to succeed in their studies or extracurricular activities.
The awards ceremony will be on March 22, 2023 at Soughton Hall, near Mold, hosted by ITV Wales presenter Andrea Byrne.
Andrea said: "We want to celebrate all those who have risen to the challenge over the past 12 months, who have overcome adversity, shown strength, have been innovative so they can continue to encourage and mentor their pupils to help them achieve their full academic and social potential as well as developing parent engagement and support fellow members of staff.
"We want to share their stories and create a permanent record of all those incredible achievements, showcasing their educational establishments."
Susan Perry, Regional Editor, North Wales, added: "We are thrilled to be holding our very first education awards.
"There are so many amazing things being achieved by our schools and education establishments, and we want our awards to recognise their fantastic work and give them the recognition they more than deserve.
"Please make sure your school does not miss out, get involved, check out our award categories and get nominating!"
Lee Taylor Craddock, sales director, said: "It is fantastic to be planning the 2023 awards to be a real celebration and to recognise the great teachers, governors, and pupils we have in the region and how they have pivoted from home schooling back to being in the classroom and keeping schools open and ensuring our pupils excel.
"2020 and 2021 will live long in the memory for those in education and the pupils who have had to ensure the hybrid learning approach over the past two years. In the spring of 2023, we will toast the best in the region.
"So please see the nomination criteria and get voting, your nomination is what makes these awards special, and our sponsors and judges are looking forward to reading all the great stories from across the region. Good luck to all those who get nominated."
