A POPULAR Wrexham bakery is set to close its doors next month.
EmzCakes, The Creative Cafe, located on Chester Street, confirmed on Sunday night on its social media channels that it will close for good on Christmas Eve.
In a statement, owner Emma Wilson said: "The EmzCakes journey has been amazing, and being able to live my dream of running the business for the best part of a decade has been such an experience. But I need to start putting myself first. Something I have not done for a very long time. As much as I love the business and everything we do, I have made the heart-breaking decision to close the business at the end of this year."
An emotional Emma cited the reasons for the closure being related to personal family difficulties over the last year.
"We have had a very difficult year on a personal level as a family, my partner, Bobby nearly lost his life last year and had months of recovery and time off work this year, we had a close family loss, plus other health complications added to the mix.
"It has been extremely hard on us. I do not share too much of my personal life on my business page as I am quite a private person, but believe me when I say it has been a struggle.
"Our family and close friends and my amazing team here at EmzCakes have been incredibly supportive through all our personal struggles, and I am so grateful for all of them. I had thrown myself into work, and kept telling myself I am ok, but in reality, I have been struggling with everything that has happened."

Emma added: "Our last day of trading will be Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve). We are open as normal and trading as normal until then, and we would love for you all to continue to support us right up to the end, and indulge in your favourite EmzCakes treats for the last time."
"This may come as a shock, it has been the hardest decision of my life, especially telling my brilliant team the news, as we are honestly like a little family, and the strongest team I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
"It is time for me to move on to pastures new, and find a new path, whatever that may be!"
The news came as a shock as hundreds of comments and well wishers flooded the post with many citing that the closure of EmzCakes will be a huge loss for Wrexham.
Emma added: "All bookings for 2022 are going ahead as booked, and we still have availability for Christmas orders, as well as limited availability for December for celebration cakes, and loads of space for personalised cupcakes, cookies, and full tray bakes.
"Anyone with a booking for 2023 and beyond, we will be getting in touch with you all individually over the next 14 days. Please give us time to get in touch with you directly regarding your booking."
Emma added that the business is up for sale.
