A TEENAGER suffered "serious injuries" after a collision involving an off-road bike in Wrexham.

North Wales Police inspector Luke Hughes, of the Wrexham City team, said the incident occurred on Monday night and was the "inevitable" result of off-road bikes being ridden by youths in the area.

He said: "The injuries to the young boy are serious, but not life changing it is hoped. As this is a live investigation, I cannot comment any further regarding the specifics.

"But I will say that I am now turning to the parents of the individuals that are riding bikes in Caia Park, Acton and Hightown."

He continued: "This is happening all too frequently, and whilst we have seized bikes and we are making progress, you now need to take responsibility for your family. You are buying them these bikes, and you are permitting their use. You need to stop them doing this."

Inspector Hughes added: "This incident is tragic but could have been far worse for all involved.

"Do you want your child to die in a collision because you failed to stop them doing something you permitted? We are doing our bit, please do yours."
