A FOOTBALL mural on the side of a Wrexham city centre pub has been completed just in time as Wales take on the USA in their opening World Cup match tonight.

The mural, on the side of the Fat Boar, has been completed in just over a week by local artists Liam Stokes-Massey and Adam Pritchard.

They were inspired by murals in places like Cardiff and thought Wrexham should have one!

Despite recent bad weather, the pair managed to finish the mural in time for Wales’ first World Cup match in 64 years, to be played today at 7pm (Monday, November 21).

The mural features a world cup silhouette with Gareth Bale and local players Neco Williams and Harry Wilson appearing on the wall.

The words “Yma O Hyd you sons of Speed”, inspired by Michael Sheen’s speech, are printed in white and an outline of Wales is also visible in the background.

The Fat Boar has thanked Wrexham Council for all their help to get the relevant permissions sorted in double quick time, and the team at Kingsbrook construction for arranging the hire and installation of the scaffolding.

The Fat Boar has said that they "love" the mural, adding: "The guys have created something that hopefully everyone can agree adds a bit of colour to the town / city for what is a hugely historic occasion for us as a nation."
