IT'S Wales Climate Week, providing an annual opportunity to hold a national conversation on climate change.

To mark the week, a North Wales charity is sharing the work they do to support environmental wellbeing across the region, including in Wrexham and Flintshire.

Establishing sustainable lifestyles, protecting natural resources, and eliminating pollutants and excessive waste all form part of Groundwork North Wales' environmental wellbeing projects, a message the charity has promoted for more than 30 years.

From the Our Back Yard project improving green spaces across Connah's Quay, to the Minera Country Park project improving the biodiversity of Minera Country Park with support from the local community, Groundwork North Wales is dedicated to improving green spaces.

Alongside this, their partner organisation Refurbs focuses on reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. They do this by accepting unwanted and unused household furniture, items, and appliances.

These items are checked, cleaned, and if required made fit for purpose to resell in there showrooms at affordable prices. Helping households with low incomes furnish their homes for less and stopping good quality items from ending up in landfill.

Another partner organisation, Wild Ground, works to engage, inspire, and enthuse local communities to act together to protect wildlife, and enhance habitats and eco-systems. With 14 nature reserves owned and managed throughout North Wales, the work undertaken at these various sites not only supports the current ecological needs of the sites but enhances it.
