WITH the 2022 World Cup now just a few days away from kicking off, many of us will be getting excited about the prospect of watching Wales play.

Some will be over in Qatar at the tournament itself, but many other fans will be preparing to support Wales on the big screen from home.

This will be Wales' first appearance at the major competition since 1958.

And Rob Page's side will be looking to replicate the success stories of Euro 2016 and Euro 2020, when they reached the semi-finals and the last 16 respectively.

Wales will take on USA, Iran and England in Group B.

Whatever happens, fans in North Wales can get to one of the official fanzones should they wish to watch the game with other Wales fans.

Here are further details on where you can go to join in with the fanzone fun ...

WREXHAM

The Leader:

PIC: Wrexham is well and truly prepared for Wales' World Cup matches.

Fan zones have been confirmed for the first three games, and Wrexham Council has funded plans in place to deliver further fan zones should Wales advance through the group.

Two zones are being created, one outdoors on High Street and another in Ty Pawb.

A screen and a stage will be erected at the eastern end of the High Street, with the big screen used to show the full match coverage.

There will be live music and a compere on the stage before and after the matches – however due to the Iran game kicking off at 10am on Friday, November 25, there won't be staged entertainment for that fixture.

The events will involve a full road closure from the junction of Hope Street / Church Street down to the junction with Yorke Street (no vehicular access to Charles Street).

The fan zones are free and you do not need tickets to attend – although there is a capacity.

Here are the full details for the fan zones:

Monday, November 21 – Wales v USA (K.O 7pm)
High Street Fan Zone – English commentary (5pm onwards, free entry). Live music from The Columbians, The Big Beat and DJ Tony Bear

Tŷ Pawb Fan Zone – Welsh language commentary (5pm onwards, free entry). Live music from Megan Lee, Alpha chino and Rhos Male Voice Choir

GWYNEDD

The main fanzones in the county will be held in Caernarfon and Criccieth.

Every Wales group game will be shown at Y Castell/The Castle Hotel in Caernarfon with free food on offer at half time in every match and other special deals on drinks also on.

The Memorial Hall in Criccieth will also be showcasing the matches with some special guests (TBC) also expected to take part in a Q&A session ahead of one of the matches.

CONWY

The Leader:

PIC: The Barn at Stadiwm CSM and (inset) the Wales squad.

Conwy County Borough Council is to hold a “family-friendly zone” for residents to enjoy Wales’ World Cup clash with England on a big screen and celebrate as one.

The game, Wales’ third and final Group B fixture at their first World Cup since 1958, kicks off in Qatar at 7pm UK time on Tuesday, November 29.

There’ll be no need to brave the November weather in Colwyn Bay, as a fan zone will be set up in The Barn at Stadiwm CSM.

Gates will open at 5pm to soak up the pre-match atmosphere, while there will be a variety of food available to purchase and a licenced bar.

To keep children entertained, there will also be free football kickabout sessions provided by qualified coaches.

In addition to the big screen, there will also be a “quiet zone” in the smaller Conwy Suite, where the match will also be shown.

Free tickets for this event are available from Venue Cymru box office – for more information, go to: www.venuecymru.co.uk.

DENBIGHSHIRE

Denbighshire Leisure Ltd will be hosting two fan zone events at Rhyl Town Hall.

With a 15ft TV screen, entertainment with DJ Owain Llyr, a choir singing “Oma yr Hyd” before the match’, a bar and a range of 1891’s burgers and pizzas on sale, fans can enjoy the matches in style.

The fanzone events there will take place on Monday, November 21 (vs USA) and Tuesday, November 29 (vs England).

Both matches kick off at 7pm and doors will open at 6pm. Admission will be £2 on the door.

  • Other pubs and venues across the region will also be hosting their own showings and events so be sure to check their social media pages for details.
