A MOTHER will be joined by family and friends for her annual fundraising walk in memory of her son.
Ann McFerran and friends are walking in memory of SAC Peter McFerran on Saturday, November 26, 2022, on what would have been Peter's 40th birthday.
Ann and family have been fundraising in memory of Peter for 15 years and all monies raised goes to the Neonatal Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital where Peter was born and cared for 40 years ago. This year it is extra special because the walk is on Peter's 40th birthday.
On June 6, 2004, Peter joined the RAF Regiment and signed up to Serve Queen Elizabeth II and, on Graduation, joined No. 1 Field Squadron of the RAF Regiment. He went on to serve in Iraq twice but his second tour was cut short when, on Thursday, July 19, 2007, was killed in action at Basrah Airport.
Since 2008 family and friends have been raising money in memory of Peter, for the Countess of Chester Neonatal Unit which, in 1982, cared for Peter and helped to save his life 40 years ago.
The walk will start at noon from Connah's Quay Ski Boat Club car park, on Dock Road, Connah's Quay, CH5 4DS and head to the Countess of Chester Country Park, Valley Drive, Chester. CH2 1UL.
It is a linear walk of about eight miles walk and will follow Cycle Route No. 5 through Connah's Quay and Shotton (along the river bank), Sealand, Saughall and Blacon, before dropping down to the canal and then climb up to Parkgate Road and onto Countess Way, before turning into the country park, opposite The Little Owl Public House.
Ann is looking for walkers to accompany her and for sponsors to support her and the walkers. If you would like to help, you can visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ann-McFerran9 or call Ann on 07956 162 964 for more information about the walk.
