With Christmas just around the corner, Almost Home Dog Rescue is raising funds while looking for forever families for their residents.
The dog rescue, based in Nercwys, is getting Christmassy with events and items for sale, but also want homes that can provide their dogs with a home for life, not just Christmas.
Current residents Kai the collie cross and Harper the bulldog are on the hunt for their perfect families.
Kai is possibly crossed with a kelpie and described as “slight in stature but is full of beans”.
The rescue says that he will make a great adventure buddy and that he came to the rescue via the pound where no one came to claim him, however, he was microchipped so his date of birth is known – May 3, 2020.
The rescue said: “Kai is a happy lad who will walk for miles, he’s good around traffic, is very clever with the energy levels to match and so will need daily mental and physical stimulation, as just a walk isn’t enough! Kai has been clean in his kennel, takes treats well and can do a beautiful sit and paw! Kai would be fab at fly ball as he loves to play fetch.
“At the vets, he was comical as he wouldn’t stay still however we got there in the end and he passed with flying colours. Kai needs an active home with someone who can meet his daily exercise needs. He travels well in the car and is looking for the next thing to do!”
Harper also came to the rescue via the pound. The rescue said that she has had too many litters and not seen much of the world.
They said that she has been nervous around moving items like bushes and buckets but is working on it and loves a cuddle.
She also has a love of cuddly toys and experiencing different environments. She had been well behaved at the vets, who think she may be around three or four, and has been booked to be spayed.
The rescue said: “Harper has been good around other dogs when out and about on walks, however we feel she would prefer to be an only dog within the household. She could live with older, dog savvy children.
“Harper travels well and is getting better on lead. At the moment we are doing little and often walks, to help build her fitness. When out walking she isn’t bothered by traffic.
“This girl deserves to have the world! She’s been through a lot and given a lot - now it’s her time to be treated like a queen! Someone’s going to be very lucky.”
