WREXHAM Police FC’s fundraising efforts will continue apace this weekend in a charity match against Wrexham Legends FC.
The officers will face a Legends side comprising former Reds players in a friendly game at Penycae FC on Sunday (November 20).
The game kicks off at 1.30pm and proceeds from the event will be donated to Nightingale House Hospice, which offers a wide range of facilities to local people living with life-limiting illness.
The organisation also supports the families of patients, offering them an environment to share quality time together.
Wrexham Police FC founder, Sgt Dave Smith is relishing the prospect of taking on the Reds Legends in his side’s most high-profile match to date.
He said: “The game will be a huge challenge for us, but one we’re all really excited about.
“We don’t know the Legends squad yet, but we know it will be full of quality players who have performed at a high level in the past.
“It’s for a great cause too and we’re hoping to raise as much money as we can for the staff at Nightingale House.
“The players involved will also be supporting White Ribbon Day (November 25), which promotes gender equality and an end to violence against women and girls.”
Without fundraising support, the specialist palliative care units provided by Nightingale House would be unable to deliver such high standards of service. Online donations can be made via the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wrexhampolicefc
Anyone wishing to attend the 1pm match can make a donation at the ground, with free admission for children.
Wrexham Police FC’s rearranged fundraising game against North Wales Fire Service will now be played on Sunday, 15 January at Bellevue Park.
Proceeds from that match will go to Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith Children's Hospices. A designated fundraising page for this match can be found here
