An Alyn and Deeside MS has asked Welsh Government to encourage all men to make the White Ribbon Promise, to become part of a wider movement to end violence.
Jack Sargeant MS raised the question in the Senedd yesterday, November 9, ahead of the White Ribbon Day on November 25.
The White Ribbon Promise is a declaration by men to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.
This year, White Ribbon Day, November 25, falls on the same week as the start of the FIFA men’s World Cup. There has never been a better time for us to come together and start playing as a team to end violence against women and girls.

The campaign is asking all men to join the team to end violence against women and girls - that's #TheGoal.
You can make the promise by visiting the White Ribbon Campaign website here https://www.whiteribbon.org.uk/promise
Speaking afterwards MS Sargeant said: “I am a huge supporter of the White Ribbon Campaign and an official ambassador. The message is clear, it is men who have to act if we are to end violence against women. That’s why I want all men to make the White Ribbon and mean it.
“I urge everyone to visit the campaign website and find out more and support White Ribbon Day on the 25th by wearing a white ribbon.”
In the Senedd MS Sargeant asked how Welsh government is encouaging men and boys to make the promise.
Jane Hutt MS responded: "The Welsh Government organises activities each year to promote the White Ribbon campaign and highlight the violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence agenda as part of the 16 days of activism.
"This year, our officials will host an internal event in the Welsh Government to raise awareness and encourage officials to become White Ribbon ambassadors."
