North Wales Fire has confirmed the most probable cause of a huge fire that occurred in Rhydymwyn last month.
The fire broke out around 7.50am on Tuesday, October 25 at XPS Foam manufacturing facility on the Antelope industrial park in Rhydymwyn.
North Wales Fire and Rescue fire chiefs have been investigating the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The incident started in the granulator and the most probable cause was a dust explosion."
The fire caused a huge plume of smoke that could be seen for several miles across Flintshire.
Fire chiefs have since confirmed there is 100 per cent fire damage to the building.
The fire saw a member of staff at XPS Foam being taken to hospital by ambulance.
Speaking last month, a spokesperson at XPS Foam's parent company QEP, said: “On Tuesday 25th October, a fire broke out at our XPS Foam manufacturing facility in Mold, Wales.
“We would like to thank North Wales Fire and Rescue Service for their swift action in bringing the fire under control.”
“Thankfully all colleagues are safe; one colleague was treated in hospital and is now back home recovering well, and we send him and his family our very best wishes.
"This has been a difficult time for our employees, and we would like to thank them for their support and patience, alongside the local community and our customers for their understanding.
“We have already made positive steps in our recovery and have a contingency plan in place to manage our supply chain and the longer-term business demands.”
“We are unable to comment further on the incident while the Health and Safety Executive carries out its investigations.”
