A NEW life-saving piece of equipment has been unveiled at a Buckley church.

The defibrillator, recently installed at Ebenezer Church in the town, is the latest in a series of devices put in place to be accessed in an emergency across Buckley.

Sue Ellen Davies, a member of the congregation at Ebenezer Church, has volunteered to be its guardian.

She said: "In 2017 my husband had a heart attack. It changed our life.

"We started attending the church and last March my husband had to go in and have a heart bypass.

"I was seeing these defibrillators going up around Buckley and I was thinking we didn't have one in Lane End.

"I asked Dave (Ellis) if it would be possible to get one there, and we got the ball rolling.

"I got in touch with Save a Life Cymru and filled in a form - and when it was passed, I said I would be the guardian.

"I am very happy about it - I wanted it to be on the outside of the church so it could benefit the community as well.

"I feel a lot safer that it's there and I am so pleased we were eligible to get it.

"I would like to thank Ebenezer Church for funding the cabinet and also funding the electrical installation side of it."

Cllr David Ellis said: "I am very pleased as a Defibrillator Champion to have been involved with another installation of a Zoll Public Access Defibrillator at Ebenezer Church in Buckley.

"A successful application was put forward by the Church for a defibrillator to Save a Life Cymru, which I supported.

"To be successful, the applicant has to fund an outdoor cabinet and its installation at their own cost.

"The defibrillator will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and be registered on the circuit.

"I would like to thank Ebenezer Church for their assistance in ensuring that Buckley has another life-saving piece of equipment for public use in an emergency.

"Also thanks again go to Tomos Hughes of the Welsh Ambulance Service for his assistance in installing the defibrillator."
