A HAWARDEN driving instructor is set to take part in BBC Children in Need’s Big Learner Relay.

The annual event involves hundreds of driving instructors and pupils raising money for BBC Children in Need.

The scheme involves relaying a Pudsey top box (the kind that driving instructors have on the roof of their driving school cars) from one driving lesson to the next, over 3,000 miles around the UK in just 12 days, beginning in Aberdeen to Goodwood motor circuit.

The Leader:

Nia Hunt has been a driving instructor for just over a year and teaches in Flintshire, Chester, and Wrexham and shared her delight at being a part of the Children in Need fundraiser.

She said: “I feel a great privilege to be involved in the big learner relay, especially with being new to the industry.

“I would like to give my husband the biggest thanks for encouraging me and always supporting me in what I do."

Nia will be continuing the relay from DoubleTree Hilton in Chester leaving at around 5.30pm with fellow instructor, Carole Flavell to then continue to ASDA supermarket in Wrexham on Saturday November 12.

She will then hand over to driving instructor, Darrell Hughes who will take to relay to Shrewsbury.

Nia’s car has been fully kitted out for the big day and is equipped with the iconic Children in Need spots as she prepares to carry the mantle (or top box!) into Wrexham.
