A DECISION on a proposal for a block of flats on land next to a Deeside pub is amongst the latest made by Flintshire Council's planning department.

The proposal was for the development of a two-storey block of flats, comprising eight one-bedroom flats on land used for car parking next to the Halfway House pub in Connah's Quay.

However, the application has been refused on flood risk grounds.

Other notable planning decisions recently made by Flintshire Council's planning officers are as follows:

  • Refusal of plans for change of use of land to residential (Gypsy Traveller community) at Church Lane, Ewloe. The site would have contained one static caravan, one touring caravan, a water  treatment plant, and parking for two cars with associated hardstanding and infrastructure.
  • Approval of plans for the extension of a house in multiple occupation (HMO) at 175, High Street, Connah's Quay. It involves the alteration of a vacant commercial unit at the ground floor of 175 (formerly funeral undertakers) to form a further three units, with shared kitchen facilities at both ground/first floor level. The upstairs of the property is an existing HMO.
  • Change of use of Tubs and Taps bathroom sales counter and display area, at Street Way, Mold, to a motor factor retail space and car workshop. It would include alterations to elevations, including re-cladding and new shopfront, associated carparking and landscaping. The application was refused on flood risk grounds.
  • Refusal of plans for a change of use of outbuildings at the Glynne Arms pub, on Glynne Way, Hawarden, to mixed use and holiday accommodation
and provision of additional car parking facility adjacent to Tinkersdale car park.
