HUNDREDS of people attended the funeral of "special" Deeside footballer, Jamie Wynne. 

The 28-year-old former Connah's Quay Nomads player and coach died tragically last month, leaving the community shocked and saddened. 

Tributes poured in from Jamie's family, friends, past clubs and coaches. As well as having been an "incredibly talented footballer", Jamie is described as having been "a genuine, loveable lad and great man". 

The Leader:

On Friday, Jamie's funeral took place at the Flintshire Crematorium, in Northop, followed by a celebration of his life at the Naval Club in Connah's Quay.

As a testament to Jamie's character, around 900 people attended the crematorium. 

The Leader:

Jamie was a huge Liverpool FC fan, and people were encouraged to wear red, and red flares were set off as the hearse arrived.

His brother, Ben, said: "There will be enough words, what a turn out for our Jamie David Wynne. This isn’t goodbye brother, please vist me in my dreams."

The Leader:

He continued: "Thank you all for giving Jamie the best possible send off, we are truly overwhelmed by the turn out. Jamie would be buzzing with it. And little Poppy (Jamie's niece) coming later on with her uncle Jay Liverpool top on

"I will ensure Jamie’s memory and legacy will carry on."
