A SANDWICH thief was among the people and incidents dealt with by police in Wrexham earlier this week.

But, Inspector Luke Hughes says the figures for general crime and anti-social behaviour in the area 'continues to be low'.

He revealed that and more in his latest 24 hour update regarding Wednesday, October 12.

Thefts were the main source of crime dealt with by officers on that day, Inspector Hughes explained.

The day started at 8.19am with the 'random' sandwich thief, with the incident taking place on Prince Charles road.

A female is said to have entered a shop and taken the sandwich, with staff stating they saw the same suspect on Sunday during an identical theft.

Inspector Hughes said: "Please come back and pay for your meal deal, I can assure you the sandwiches in custody aren’t as tasty."

At 8.42am, police received reports of a bike being stolen from a shed on Montgomery Road.

At 2.37pm, two reports came in of three males taking a handset from a phone shop on Hope street.

At 4.26pm, police officers dealt with a medical emergency. Whilst officers were taking a statement at a shop on Plas Coch a male collapses in the shop, first aid provided along with shop staff and the man was taken home.

Inspector Hughes adds: "A steady day in the city, it seems we have a few issues with the ASB use of motor bikes and quads, periodically at a number of locations across the city, but primarily focused in the Caia area.

"Sadly I’m old enough to remember and have dealt with some really tragic incidents involving 'off road' bikes sadly resulting in both death and serious injury.

"I’m sure the family and friends of those who have been affected in the past would have a few words of advice for this new generation… my advice is simply to stop now before you or someone else gets hurt."
