North Wales Police have carried out night patrols and issued advise for farmers and quad bike owners after several recent thefts.
Five quad bikes have been stolen in the past eight weeks, all from the Meirionydd area, as well as 10 gates and sheep hurdles over this past weekend in the Denbigh moors area.
PCSO Iwan Jones of the Rural Crime Team, said: “Anyone who owns a quad bike should consider installing a tracker device, secure their bikes away when not in use and place in a padlocked unit.
“Consider security marking the items and photograph unique features of the bike such as dents and scratches.
“I would also advise farmers to padlock gates, security mark them and invert the hinges in order to assist future identification.
“Anyone who witnesses anything suspicious, or anyone with information about the recent thefts is asked to get in touch with officers on 101, or via the website.”
Rural Crime Team members will be at Ruthin Mart on Thursday, October 20, and at Dolgellau Mart on Friday, October 21 to provide security advice to farmers.
There will also be specialist companies present to provide crime prevention advice.
They also advise signing up to Farmwatch on North Wales Police community alert system for notifications of rural crime incidents.
Posting on social media the North Wales Police Rural Crime Team said: "In response to recent thefts of quad bikes and gates from rural areas, the team was out and about into the early hours. Nightime patrols of our countryside will continue."
"For information about ongoing thefts etc register with Farmwatch on NWP community alert system".
