Cats and dogs looking to be adopted from North Wales rescue centre

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home...

Jessie at NCAR.

• Jessie is a sweet four-year-old girl who was returned to the rescue as her owners were unable to cope with her behaviour. In the home she is described as being perfect, however, out and about she can be quite reactive to other dogs. At the rescue they manage this behaviour through good lead control, and we would be looking for a home who is able to work alongside the behaviour team to manage this behaviour. She can also be quite reactive to animals passing the house when she is in the garden, so a quieter area may be better for Jessie. NCAR will give full advice and support with regards to preventing these issues developing as she settles. Generally, she is a well behaved girl and with good handling, walks beautifully on the lead. She is fully house trained. A gorgeous girl who will flourish in the right environment.

Winter at NCAR.

• Winter is a beautiful grey female kitten, only about nine weeks of age. NCAR are looking for a home with children over eight years of age. She could go to a home with a quiet, cat-savvy dog. They are looking for a home with a garden in a safe area for when she is old enough to go outside. She would like people to continue her socialisation and able to spend loads of time giving cuddles.

Luna at NCAR.

• Luna is a gorgeous three-year-old girl who came to the rescue after being found on the streets of Turkey in appalling condition. She is a nervous girl who can get overwhelmed with new people being too excitable around her. She is generally OK if people ignore her and she is able to approach on her own terms, but she can get a little growly and barky with those who encroach her space too soon. She is better with women than with men. When she knows you, she is a sweet and loving girl who enjoys interaction. The rescue recommend she isn't homed with children. She is fairly tolerant of other dogs and does have the potential to live with another dog given the right introductions. She's a really beautiful girl who had a really tough start and is lucky to be alive.

Tom at NCAR.

• Tom is about 14+ years old and came into the centre's care due to an unfortunate change of circumstances. He is a really friendly, sociable lad who is looking for a fairly quiet home as this is what he has been used to. He has lived with a medium sized dog before, so does have potential to live with a friendly, cat-savvy dog in his next home. NCAR suspect Tom may be slightly deaf, so he is looking for a home with a secure garden that he can venture into with human company.

Oakley at NCAR.

• Oakley is a lovely six-year-old lad who has sadly been returned as he was not keen when visitors came to the home. He is looking for a home with owners that will follow guidance and put things into place to help Oakley feel more secure, and hopefully he won't feel the need to guard the home. He is a very affectionate lad who loves being out and about on his walks and exploring. He can be left on his own for a few hours, is fully house trained and is fine travelling in the car. He is looking for a home as the only pet. He is looking for an adult only home with people who are willing to continue his training and socialisation.

Poppy at NCAR.

• Poppy is seven-and-a-half years old and has recently been returned to the centre. She has come back into care with her sister Leila, but they have decided to find them homes separately due to them not always getting on, which caused them both to be stressed. She is a friendly girl who likes attention, and her previous owner described her as being needy and liking hugs. She has only ever been kept as a house cat and is looking to continue to be kept indoors only. She could go to a home with children over 10 years.
