Residents of the Gresford community have been left outraged after a targeted act of vandalism has seen a local tribute to fallen soldiers defaced.
The local ‘Tommy’ silhouette statue which depicts a First World War soldier is located on the way into the village and has sadly been vandalised.
The picture surfaced on social media in a Gresford and Marford Facebook group, which left members infuriated that the monument had been destroyed given what it represents.
Unknown Tommy or Silent Soldier silhouettes were created as a reminder of the Fallen and those who continue to serve.
A spokesperson for Gresford Community Council said: “Gresford Community Council is saddened that the Tommy has been vandalised and saddened that the effort used to do this was misdirected rather than put to a positive use.”
