Flintshire has been named fourth cheapest UK destination for an autumn getaway according to Holiday booking site, LateRooms.com.
Using internal data, LateRooms.com looked at the average price of accommodation for the month of October in 96 of the UK’s counties to determine the cheapest places to stay.
The number of free local attractions in each of the cheapest destinations was also noted, to highlight how families can holiday on a budget.
The 10 cheapest staycation destinations based on the average cost of accommodation per night for a family of four are:
- Carmarthenshire - £111.20 (58 free activities and attractions)
- Bridgend - £117.84 (21 free activities and attractions)
- Conwy - £118.36 (135 free activities and attractions)
- Flintshire - £120.00 (27 free activities and attractions)
- Merthyr Tydfil - £120.44 (4 free activities and attractions)
- East Riding of Yorkshire - £121.20 (184 free activities and attractions)
- Shropshire - £121.80 (167 free activities and attractions)
- Gwynedd - £122.08 (106 free activities and attractions)
- Tyne and Wear - £122.56 (249 free activities and attractions)
- Isle of Anglesey - £122.68 (62 free activities and attractions)
Out of the ten cheapest locations, Welsh towns and counties make up seven out of ten.
Flintshire took the fourth spot with the average cost for a family of four per night at £120 and 27 free activities across the region.
Popular free activities in Flintshire include visiting the many free nature parks such as Wepre Park and Loggerheads Park, as well as visiting free castles in the area.
