A COURT has ordered the removal of a Traveller encampment in Flintshire.
Solicitor Natalie Roberts made an application for the removal to Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday morning in relation to the encampment currently sited at Greenfield Dock.
Ms Roberts, acting on behalf of Flintshire Council, said the occupants arrived at the site on September 19 and have since failed to move on.
She added there have been complaints from members of the public and Flintshire Council sought removal of the Travellers due to concerns that their continued presence at the site will cause "community tensions to rise."
The court heard a council officer carried out an inspection of the illegal encampment on September 27 and confirmed the occupants do not wish to be accommodated or given access to homeless services.

"The local community is supportive of the council taking legal action to have them removed from the site," she added - explaining it had been confirmed the same Travellers had set up an encampment there earlier in the year and would have known it to be illegal.
The court approved the application on the grounds that it is an "unlawful encampment" and it had the potential to cause "further community conflict."
