STAFF and customers are "absolutely devastated" after a Flintshire pub announced its sudden closure.
The Red Lion, in Northop, posted on its social media to announce the sad news on Friday morning.
The post reads: "It's with great sadness that the Red Lion is now closed.
"We are absolutely deverstated but it's out of our control. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has been caused.
"But we want to thank each and everyone of our customers that supports through the good times and the bad.
"Thanks, the Red Lion team."
The pub was run by mum-and-daughter leaseholders, Amanda Chitty and Elaine Hughes, since the end of 2019 - taking over just eight weeks before the first Covid lockdown.
The post has already received over 100 comments from people expressing their shock and sadness at the news.
One person said: "Devastating news. You all worked so hard. Wishing you all the best for whatever the future holds. One door is closed but we are sure another one will open."
Another added: "So sad to read this. Food and service here has always been amazing. Wishing you all the luck for the future."
