Princess Anne attends charity day at Bangor-on-Dee races

Princess Anne attended the Clwyd Special Riding Centre Charity Day to celebrate its 40-year anniversary.

Her Royal Highness joined Riding for the Disabled (RDA) as its Patron in 1971, later becoming President in 1985. She has supported the RDA and Clwyd Special Riding Centre over the last 40 years.

The Clwyd Special Riding Centre provides state-of-the-art facilities that support Riding for the Disabled and equine based activities, benefitting people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities and additional needs.

The Princess Royal welcomed 300 guests in the hospitality marquee at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, met groups of volunteers from Clwyd Special Riding Centre and was presented with a posy from children that attend the riding school.

After lunch, Her Royal Highness joined racegoers in the Parade Ring for the first race, The Jones Bros Conditional Handicap Steeple Chase. She conducted the presentation of the first race, a welcome surprise for winning jockey Lily Pinchin, owner G. E Morgan and trainer Charlie Longsdon.

It follows another Royal visit to North Wales this week, with the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, visiting Holyhead lifeboat station on Tuesday.
