A RESIDENT living near a busy junction subject to "constant" roadworks is calling on the council to "give us a break" from them.
The works on the A541 Wrexham Road and the B5102 crossroads in Cefn-y-Bedd - known as the Hollybush junction - have been causing "absolute bedlam" this week. Four-way traffic lights have left motorists reportedly facing delays of over an hour and queues stretching back a mile.
One person took to Facebook to say: "I drive that road regularly to get to work in the Maelor Hospital. They are forever digging up the road by the Hollybush pub, it drives me crazy.
"Took me and hour and a half to get through those traffic lights last night. Dreading the journey to work already."
Another added: "Took an hour and a half to get from Mold to Wrexham this morning. An absolute nightmare."
To compound matters, there are roadworks this week on Gresford Road between Hope and Llay - creating further disruption.
And it's not the first time the area has been subject to disruption due to roadworks.
The A541 Abermorddu and Hollybush junction were subject to 10 weeks worth of roadworks to upgrade to traffic signals between February and March of 2021, and disruption caused by more works that summer. This is as well as four weeks of roadworks at the location in June 2020.

A resident living on Hawarden Road in Abermorddu, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “It’s been ridiculous these last few years, it’s one thing after another.
“It seems like every few months traffic is backing up along that road all the way from the Holly Bush lights into Caergwrle for one reason or another.
“It’s a nightmare for residents getting in and out of their homes, but also for those stuck in the traffic too – people sometimes pull over and ask to use the toilet because they’ve been stuck in the queues that long."
They added: “It’s a main road linking Wrexham to Mold and key for emergency services, it must be terrible for them too – so really there should only be hold-ups if it’s absolutely essential.
“There is also the environmental impact to consider too.
“People wouldn’t have minded if it was just for the installation of the new Holly Bush junction and that was that, but since then there have been numerous hold-ups, and that’s on top of all the repair and resurfacing that happened for four months in Abermorddu last year.
“Just give us a break!”

Another resident took to social media to say: "It just feels like constant disruption there. It seems like every road to Caergwrle is always being dug up. Even when you try to avoid Mold Road - guess what, they put lights on the Llay road, too.
"Residents are at their wits' end with it."
Flintshire Council's chief officer for Streetscene and Transportation, Katie Wilby, said: “We are currently undertaking investigatory works at the junction of the A541 Wrexham Road and B5102 Ffrwd Road following reports of surface water collecting on the carriageway.
"Whilst every effort has been made to limit the disruption to the travelling public and local community, it was necessary to undertake excavation works in order to identify the source of the problem.
“We recognise that the location was subject to disruption following the implementation of traffic signal improvement works last year; however, the current works are necessary in order to remedy the flooding and drainage problems."
She added: "The traffic management contractors are continuing to monitor the situation and will remain on site for the duration of the works.
"We would like to thank residents for their continued patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused, as we seek to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.”
