A RETIRED headteacher from Flintshire died after being "knocked over" by a dog, an inquest opening heard.
Lynne Elaine Moffatt, of Church Lane, Mold, died of her injuries at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on September 15.
At County Hall in Ruthin on Monday (September 26), an inquest opening was told the 72-year-old was out walking her own dog when she was struck by another person's dog, causing her to lose her balance and hit her head on the ground.
Ms Moffatt was initially admitted to Wrexham Maelor Hospital on September 5, before she was transferred to the care of the specialist neurological team at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, told the hearing that her condition deteriorated and she sadly died on September 15.
Ms Moffatt had "no serious underlying health conditions" that could have contributed to her death. The coroner stated that the provisional cause of death was respiratory failure due to a traumatic brain injury.
A full inquest was adjourned until a later date.
