THOUSANDS of spectators enjoyed fine weather on Saturday, September 24 as they watched the finale of the 2022 Chester Races season.
Having had the previous two fixtures called off when the British Horseracing Authority cancelled all racing out of respect following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, it was business as usual for Chester Racecourse as it played host to eight races.
Taking the spoils in the feature race of the day, the 3.25pm Deepbridge Watergate Cup Handicap Stakes, was Emiyn, ridden by jockey Zak Wheatley.

Chester Racecourse's next big event will be the Lord Mayor's Fireworks Extravaganza, which last year saw more than 10,000 people witness a sparkling fireworks display.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 5, with early bird tickets available for £7. Events on the racecourse site include a funfair (early bird tickets will include two free rides on the fairground in the Dee Stand), fun activities and tasty treats. 55pm booking fee applies, children under four go free with a paying adult.
