A sponsored walk which includes four-legged furry friends, is set to take place next month in support of a local hospice.
Woofs and Walkies will be at Alyn Waters Country Park (Gwersyllt Side) on Sunday, October 30, when paws and boots will make their way through the country park in aid of Nightingale House Hospice.
The walk is a great way to get outside and do something fun; everyone is invited, whether you are a keen dog lover or have a family. As it is Halloween weekend, fancy dress is encouraged for the occasion, and there will also be some treats available for the best-dressed dog.
Registration will begin at 1pm and the walk will start promptly at 1.30pm, with participants choosing between a 3k and a 5k route. All furry participants will receive a goodie bag after finishing the route, kindly donated by JML Pets Gwersyllt.
Additionally, to raise extra funds for patient care, a raffle will be held with some amazing dog-related prizes kindly donated by local businesses. There will also be a family photo station, where supporters capture the paw-fect shot to remember the day.
Events fundraiser Sam said: “I am delighted that Woofs and Walkies has returned to our fundraising calendar this Halloween.
“As a dog owner myself, I am so excited we are holding a dog-friendly event that the whole family can enjoy.
“I can’t wait to see all the fancy dress costumes. We would also like to say a huge thank you to DTCC for sponsoring this event and for their continued support of Nightingale House.
“We hope Woofs and Walkies can help us to raise lots of funds for our patient care and family support services.”
As an extra sponsorship incentive, participants that raise more than £40 will be entered into a prize draw to win a dog photoshoot courtesy of Chelsea B Photography. Money raised from the event will go towards funding patient care and family support services that the local hospice provides.
A spokesman for event sponsor DTCC, added: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a fun and family-inclusive event.
“DTCC’s association with Nightingale House has been ongoing for many years, and we are proud to be associated with an organisation that continues to fundraise in these challenging times.”
