A SEVEN–year–old boy from Wrexham has been awarded a special certificate for his courage and bravery by North Wales Police after calling 999 upon finding his mum unresponsive on the floor.
Sunny Bennett’s mum, Siobhan Roberts suffered an epileptic seizure at their home in Wrexham on Sunday, August 21.
Sunny, who was at home with his six-year-old brother and 11-month-old sister, called 999 – something he’d been taught to do by his mum in an emergency due to her condition.
Following her collapse, Siobhan, 23, spoke of her amazement by her son’s courage and said she ‘couldn’t be prouder’.

Inspector Luke Hughes presented Sunny with a certificate for his bravery along with PC Horne and PC Yarwood.
Inspector Hughes said: “Sunny told me in detail how he stayed calm, rang 999 and asked for an ambulance before staying with his mum until help arrived.
“PC Horne and PC Chapman were so impressed with how brave Sunny was that they really wanted to reward him.
“It was absolutely right that we recognise exactly how brave Sunny was and it was a privilege to meet him and present him with a certificate.
“Well done, Sunny, you were amazing”.
PC Horne added: “We don’t often see many calls where a seven-year-old has been so brave to pick up the phone and call 999.
“Sunny is truly deserving of this reward for his outstanding courage and bravery, during what we could only imagine was a very scary time for him and his little sister.”
